Stress Reduction Breathing Exercise

“Stress Management: The Power of the Breath” – taught by Gary Kraftsow, founder of the American Viniyoga Institute and member of the GWI Yoga Therapy Initiative

The following 30-minute practice uses the integration of breath and movement and seated breathing practices designed to calm the nervous system and promote self-awareness. This is particularly important during the uncertainty or our times, no matter what our external circumstances may be. In this class, we will utilize a Langhana (from the Sanskrit, meaning “to reduce” or “to eliminate”) way of regulating the breath that is effective for managing stress, promoting deep relaxation and finding stillness and peace.

This practice can be done seated on the floor or in a chair.
