At the recent Global Wellness Summit, world-renowned thinker Dr. Deepak Chopra took a brilliant dive into how the future of wellness is decoding the epigenome, that DNA which is ceaselessly modified by lifestyle choices. He put the hard science behind our intuitive sense that changing our lifestyles and consciousness (through healthy food, exercise, sleep and meditation) can prevent the expression of 95 percent of genetic mutations (the root of chronic disease) that are not hardwired into us at birth.
Hi Bryan,
In response to your question about the empirical data for Dr. Chopra’s claim that "changing our lifestyles and consciousness, can prevent the expression of 95% of genetic mutations", there are two sources I would recommend. First, is Dr. Chopra’s new book "Super Genes" that just came out. Also, Dr. Ken Pelletier just wrote a book on this exact topic which will be out in the fall. It is called "Change Your Genes – Change Your Life: The Hope and Hype of Epigenesis."
All very exciting!
An interesting idea certainly! A healthy a wellness focussed lifestyle CAN certainly help reduce the prevalence of a variety of diseases – from diabetes to cirrhosis. It would useful to understand what empirical data Dr. Chopra is using to make the claim that "changing our lifestyles and consciousness, can prevent the expression of 95 percent of genetic mutations"… ???
