If you’re looking for “high-yield” tourists, look no further than wellness-focused travelers.

New data from the Global Wellness Institute’s “Global Spa & Wellness Economy” report reveals international wellness travelers now spend on average $1,639 per trip—or 59 percent more than the average tourist. And domestic wellness travelers spend $688/trip, which is a whopping 159 percent more than the typical domestic tourist.

And note: The research makes a key distinction between “primary” wellness tourists, where wellness activities are the primary motivation for the trip/destination, and the “secondary” variety, or those who seek wellness experiences as part of a trip.
