Looking at annual growth rates and revenue gains together, Asia is the global growth leader for the wellness markets GWI tracks. Its wellness tourism market has reached $136.7 billion, and the region has been growing wellness trips 15.3 percent a year—now at 258 million trips annually. (China and India rank first and second for growth worldwide.) Asia now boasts the largest number of spas (48,679) worldwide, with a spa industry worth $26.5 billion. It has by far the largest thermal/mineral springs market in the world, with almost 26K establishments now generating $31.6 billion. While only 5 percent of workers (97.8 million) across Asia-Pacific have some kind of workplace wellness program, that $9.3 billion market is growing a fast 5 percent a year. And its wellness real estate market, growing 7.3 percent a year, is now worth $46.8 billion and is inching up to the global leader, North America.
