Middle East & North Africa Wellness Tourism Economy
Released November 2018
In terms of pure growth, no region in the world is growing wellness tourism revenues faster than the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Wellness tourism trips grew from 5.5 million in 2015 to 11 million in 2017. And wellness tourism expenditures grew dramatically from $8.3 billion to $10.7 billion in that same time. That’s 13.3 percent annual growth in the MENA wellness tourism market–more than twice as fast as the global average of 6.5 percent. The MENA spa industry, finally catching up to its highly developed hospitality market, is also seeing explosive growth: Spa revenues grew 30.4 percent annually from 2015-2017.
This special report on wellness tourism in the MENA region provides key new data for the wellness tourism, spa and thermal springs markets (as a region and for top-performing nations) and spotlights the trends driving this fast-growing market.
